Computers & Internet

One can easily say that these are the inventions of the century. It has done what one could not imagine. It has open the doors of the world to the world.

What are you thinking now? Whatever you do, just put that in a search engine, you will be amazed to see the data on that, its amazing. Information on fingertips, one just has to type that.

At this day and age, the current of terms of literacy says that a person who doesn't know about computers is not literate. It simply shows as to how deeply this is involved in every walk of life, just name it.

There is a tendency of humans to accept change with time or not accept it at all. Change does cause stress. See the bright aspect. These inventions have changed the face of the world.

Businesses are stretched from one corner of the world to another. Who says that you have to hire someone in your local area to get your work done, you can get a person have your work done on the portals that serve as a bridge between the company and the skilled.

Do you want to express yourself? Do you want to do business? Do you want to set a school? Whatever you think, you can do that here. Its a whole new world, with its own set of rules.

Its because of this the world has really shrunk into a small ball, where people can visit the jungles of Africa sitting in their homes, roaming on the islands on a starry night, being on top of the highest mountains. I believe as things are going, in a few years people will be getting transported through lines, just a vivid imagination, but thats how we see things have been coming into being. Who could have thought that we could see the world moving in a box, TV.

This is all really amazing and really cool. I just heard a statement a few days ago and was making it a part of my data bank by repeating it again and again that "Internet Is A Multi Billion Dollar Industry".

Another thing that is pretty remarkable is that the older generation is not much into using computers and have been greatly affected by it, cause they thought that they could not adapt to this change. I believe we must have something made for them that they could use it with a whole lot ease and comfort, in terms of gadgets or programs, could be anything, its just a thought.

Is Your Computer Strong Enough For An Internet Work From Home Business

If you are planning on doing business online with one of the
many work from home based businesses available on the
internet, then you are going to want to make sure your
computer is up to the task.

Although it is possible to get by with a Pentium 1, at
today's prices there is no reason to do so. Pentium 4
computers and AMD equivalent computers have dropped in price
enormously.

I have to admit, I am still using an Intel Celeron 766 Mh
computer but I upgraded the ram to 384 Mb and the hard drive
to 80 Gb. Also a high speed internet connection is a must. I
am connected to the internet from 8:00 Am to 2:00 Am (18
Hours) continuously every day. This means my security
including firewall must be set up properly and working. But
that's another article for another time.

Why do you need a powerful computer for your work from home
internet business? Well before I upgraded from my Pentium
MMX 233 Mh computer I was spending more time re booting from
freeze ups and cleaning my hard drive than I was actually
working at my internet work from home based business. Yes I
started out over 5 years ago using a Pentium MMX 233 with
only 160 Mb of RAM and a 3 Gb hard drive, proving that it is
possible to build a work from home internet business on an
old slow computer. But why would you. I upgraded to a used
Celeron 766 Mh computer with 256 Mb of RAM for $200
Canadian. And here in Canada you can buy a Pentium 4 or AMD
equivalent for just $400-$500.

Buying the Perfect Computer - The FIRST Time

So you've finally decided it's time for a change. No matter
what advice you follow that old work horse of a desktop
computer you have has outlived its usefulness with slow
loading applications and a continuous rise in operation
noise.

Searching for that Perfect Computer can be about as much fun
as purchasing a new car and about as frustrating also when
sorting through the various brands while trying to decide
which "bells and whistles" best fit your needs. Besides all
that trying to return something that is so large can be both
inconvenient and very difficult to do. So making the right
decision the FIRST time is the wise path of choice.

For starters you'll need to decide what you want to do with
your computer. Are you into the video game scene or are you
someone who likes to just surf the internet and occasionally
do some book keeping with simple word processing software?

If you're into video games you're going to want a machine
that can handle the high level of graphics and superior
sound quality. On the other hand if you're not into all
that high adrenalin stuff you can probably get by with a
less expensive system. Although, if you want to stay on the
safe side I would recommend going with something more
"high-end" so you don't have to spend another large chunk of
change to upgrade the system you just bought.

There are two basic routes you can take when purchasing a
new computer.

1) Purchase a "Brand Name" Computer
2) Purchase a "Clone" Computer

A "BRAND-NAME" computer is one that is manufactured by a
company that is recognizable by name.

Some Advantages/Disadvantages of "Brand-Name" computers
include:

Advantages:

Customer Support- If you are experiencing problems with your
computer you will have the option to contact a
representative of the company that you purchased the PC from
to get help in solving your problem.

Customer support is probably the best reason to buy a
brand-name computer.

Warranty- Having a warranty is always nice since it acts as
a type of security blanket for you.

In case a part on your computer should fail you should be
able to get the item fixed at no charge just as long as the
warranty has not expired.

Read and understand a company's warranty policy BEFORE you
purchase a computer from them.

This way you'll have a good understanding of the procedures
to follow in case a problem should arise.

Pre-installed Software- Many companies will include software
packages that are all set up and ready to go for you on your
computer.

Although, a disadvantage of buying a brand-name computer
with software pre-installed is that you usually end up with
more than fits your needs and usually just results with the
wasting of space on your storage device.

Additional Support- Most brand-name computer companies are
also able to provide you with web sites that may provide you
with current software updates, user manuals, or basic
troubleshooting help.

Disadvantages

The use of Proprietary parts- the term Proprietary refers to
products that are unique to an individual company and that
company only.

So if a part was to malfunction on your computer after
warranty and you needed to replace it you could not just go
to your local computer store and purchase any old part even
if it was intended for the same function as the item that
failed.

You would be forced to buy the exact same item that came out
of the computer or else the computer would more than likely
cease to function correctly.

Having to buy proprietary parts usually involves the need to
place an order which means you'll have to wait for the part
to arrive or you'll have to send your computer into the
company or an authorized dealer of that company for
repairs.

People with a home based business would probably not be too
happy with that situation at all.

Integrated/On-board parts- In the computer world when you
hear the word integrated or on-board it means that a
particular part such as the modem or sound port where you
plug in your speakers, is built-in or part of the computer
main board (Also known as the Motherboard).

This means that if any of these items should fail, you can't
just remove them from the computer and replace them with a
new part. They are usually soldered directly to the main
board and are stuck there.
